Pakistan’s position on Kashmir strong: Blair

By Monitoring Desk

NEW DELHI, Jan 4: British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who arrived in India on Thursday, has said that Pakistan’s position on Kashmir was “strong”.

In a television interview aboard his special aircraft, Blair said: “Of course, Pakistan has a very strong position on Kashmir and they are entitled to that political position but I think most people recognise and indeed the action of (Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf) has demonstrated that there cannot be any place for the type of terrorist act that we have seen in the past few weeks,” reports PTI website.

“Therefore, what is necessary is for the action to be taken against terrorism and then for the situation to be de-escalated to be calmed down. I will try to talk to both sides in order to make sure that we exercise as great a calming influence as possible,” Blair, who will also visit Pakistan, added.
