HYDERABAD, Jan 4: A batch of around 200 newly trained army jawans of Sindh Regimental Centre (SRC), Hyderabad, was sent to Line of Control and Sialkot sector from here on Friday after their passing out parade was held.

The sepoys belong to Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Company of Sindh Regiment and have earlier undergone 9-month training. They joined the army from different areas of Sindh i.e. Umerkot, Mithi, Sukkur, Dadu, Mehar etc.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant of SRC, Brig Mohammad Zamir Rajar who inspected the parade, said that the SRC was a newly raised regiment yet it had brought laurels in a very short period and remained in the frontline of Kargil and Siachin.

The Sindh Regiment was raised in 1980, first established in Sukkur, then brought to Petaro and finally shifted to Hyderabad. Captain Karnal Sher Khan, who won Nishan-i-Hyder during Kargil warfare, also hailed from the regiment.

The SRC has six Sitara-i-Jurat, six Sitara-i-Basalat, 12 Tamgha-i- Jurat, 28 Tamgha-e-Basalat and one Nishan-e-Hyder to its credit after its jawans performed outstandingly on different occasions.

There are 29 battalions and five companies of the SRC which include Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Mohammad Bin Qasim, Khushhal Khan Khattak, Allama Iqbal and Mir Chakar companies.
