ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on Monday authorized the PTCL to increase monthly line rent of its connections across the country.
“PTA has allowed a cap of Rs300 per month on line rent, which is higher by Rs18 as compared to the existing rate,” a PTA press release said. The PTA has approved the PTCL’s proposal to reduce installation charges from Rs3,690 to Rs2,000.
The PTA has also approved the company’s proposal to reduce the NWD charges from an average Rs11.1 per minute to Rs9.7 per minute and international call charges from an average Rs60 per minute to Rs45 per minute.
For NWD calls, the PTA has asked the PTCL to rationalize distance zones subject to the condition that existing zone-I charges remain within Rs4 per minute. For other zones, the PTA generally agreed with the company’s proposal. Yet it allowed tariff adjustment for these zones within the existing caps in an appropriate manner so that consumer gets some relief.—APP
