Published December 23, 2001

HARIPUR, Dec 22: The forest magistrate of Haripur has served a show-cause notice on the forest range officer for having deceived the court in a case of alleged smuggling of timber in the Khalabat township the other day.

According to the contents of the notice, the range officer claimed to have seized about 250 feet of timber from the saw machine of Khalid Khan and submitted the challan to the court of Forest Magistrate Mohammad Asif Khan.

The accused challenged the case in the same court, taking plea that the timber seized from his godown and shown as illegal and liable to be fined by the forest officials had been legally purchased.
