Four gunmen forced their entry into the house of a local trader, Muhammad Aslam, in Ali Town, Saddar, and took away thousands of rupees in cash, gold jewellery and other valuable at gun point.

Three robbers escaped with Rs25,000 in cash and other valuable from the house of one Ziaul Haq in Shahzad Colony, Nishatabad. They also took away Mr Haq’s motorcycle (FDY-6715).

Thieves took away Rs40,000 in cash, electrical appliance and other articles from the house of Muhammad Yousaf in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Cash, gold and other valuables were taken from the house of a commission agent, Tariq Mahmood, in Qaimpura, Gulberg.

Three highwaymen drove away with the motorcycle of a student, Farhan Ahmad, from Nazimabad.

Masked highwaymen looted over a dozen villagers in Malkhanwala and fled with cash, wrist watches and other articles.

PRISONERS RELEASED: About five dozen prisoners involved in minor offences have been released from the district jail in a month.

Jail superintendent Shahid Salim Baig told newsmen here on Saturday that six poor prisoners have also been released after the payment of fine by philanthropists.

He said eight prisoners were released after their trial on the jail premises by judicial officers.

Mr Baig said the jail administration had made hectic efforts to provid maximum facilities to under-trial prisoners in Ramazan.
