KARACHI: Edhi Home provides shelter to 146 women

KARACHI, Dec 7: The Edhi Foundation transported 15,302 patients and dead bodies to their destinations in the city during the month of November.

695 patients and dead bodies were transported to the interior of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP on discounted expenses.

The Foundation also transported 19 dead and 180 injured victims of 212 road traffic accidents to different hospitals in the city during the month.

At least 27 unclaimed dead bodies, mainly of heroin addicts, were picked up and shifted to the Edhi morgue.

During the same month 108 mental patients were picked up from different parts of the city and transported to the Edhi Village and Edhi North Nazimabad branch.

39 male and 41 female patients were handed over to their relations during the month.

Last month, 146 women and girls were given shelter at Edhi Home Shorab Goth. 80 such women were transported within or out of the city limits by the Edhi ambulance service.

56 runaway children in the city from different parts of the country were admitted to the Edhi Children Home during the month. 35 children were repatriated with their families.
