KARACHI: Turbine provided to improve water supply


KARACHI, Dec 5: On the directive of Nazim Karachi, Naimatullah Khan, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board supplied a turbine in Union Council-7 of Jamshed Town within 12 hours to help improve water distribution in the area.

The Nazim visited the Union Council-7, Tariq Road and Society area on Tuesday.

The MD KWSB, Nazims of Jamshed Town and Union Council 7 and other elected representatives and officials were also present during the visit.

On the occasion, the Nazim was informed that lower staff of Water Board remains absence from duty and they also do not wear uniforms.

Naimatullah Khan directed that water supply situation in these areas be improved within a week after which action will be taken on complaints received.

The MD KWSB said in case there is any complaint of corruption against the staff, the same should be given in writing so that the concerned person is dismissed from service when charge is proved. He said corrupt elements would not be tolerated in the department.

He informed the Nazim Karachi that pumping system is being done away with gradually and the system of supplying water through lines is being restored.

During the visit the Nazim went round the pumping stations at Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Khalid Bin Walid Road and Khudadad Colony.

Meanwhile, the Nazim Karachi, gave a cash prize to a valveman Jamil Ahmed in recognition of his performance.

During a visit to Shaheed-e-Millat Road, the people at Khalid Bin Walid Road Pumping Station had appreciated the work of Jamil Ahmed.—APP
