6.311m bales reach ginneries

KARACHI, Dec 4: More than 6.311m cotton bales arrived at the ginning factories till December 1.

According to a fortnightly report of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Tuesday, cotton arrival has depicted a decline of 9.72 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Last year, more than 6.991m bales had reached ginning factories during the same period.

During the last fortnight, 1.382m bales reached ginning factories.

The report further said that out of the total arrival, about 1.592m bales of cotton arrived in Sindh and about 4.719m bales in Punjab. Cotton arrival in Sindh registered an increase of 6.22 per cent, whereas it declined in Punjab by 14.07 per cent.

Out of the total, the textile mills purchased more than 4.139m bales, TCP 115,201 bales and exporters 6,704 bales, leaving unsold stock of more than 2.050m bales with the ginneries.—APP
