KARACHI, Dec 1: Two young men fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Saturday.
A young milk-seller, Saleem, aged 30, died when two passenger coaches collided head on in Liaquatabad. Eight other passengers suffered minor injuries in the accident. They were sent home after first aid. The drivers of the passenger coaches were, reportedly, under arrest.
A young man died when a bus collided head on with a truck near the Native Jetty bridge. The accident victim was travelling in the bus. His identity could not be ascertained immediately. The area police had no further details. The body was sent to a mortuary for post-mortem.
CARJACKING: Ten vehicles were hijacked in the city on Saturday, the police said.
The police also claimed on Saturday to have recovered six vehicles in the city.
KILLED: A vendor, Saleem Khan, aged 30, who had been attacked with a lethal weapon and injured by his alleged rival sometime back in Saddar died on Saturday. The police had no track of the suspects.
WOUNDED: Bandits shot and wounded two men in the city on Saturday.
Bandits barged into the house of Mohammed Ashraf in Zaman Town allegedly for robbery. When the occupants of the house put up resistance to them, they became jittery, opened fire and fled the scene. Ashraf was wounded.
Ansar was wounded in a similar way in Samanabad.
Both the wounded men have been admitted to hospital, and they are reported to be in stable condition.
ROBBERIES: Four robberies were committed in the city on Saturday, the police said.
Aziz Khan lodged a report at Boat Basin police station that five men barged into his house and got away with cash and gold jewellery.
Armed men dashed into the house of Abrar Alvi in Model Colony and got away with cash and gold jewellery.
Bandits robbed a shopkeeper, Rashid, of cash at his shop in Nazimabad.
Five men barged into the house of Noor Mohammed in TPX police limits and robbed him of cash and gold jewellery.
