KARACHI: Presence of US, allied forces in region opposed

KARACHI, Dec 1: The Defence of Pakistan and Afghanistan Council has contended that the presence of the United States and allies’ forces in the region is a serious threat to balance of power in South Asia, which could prove fatal for many regional countries.

This was stated by DPAC leaders at a joint press conference here on Saturday on the conclusion of a meeting.

They announced the constitution of a three-member committee headed by JUP Chief Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, with Lt-Gen (retd) Hameed Gul and Prof Sajid Mir being the other members. The committee will visit neighbouring countries to discuss the issue.

Those who attended the meeting were Syed Munawar Hasan, Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi, Hafiz Taqi, Mushtaq Mirza, Mamnoon Hussain, Qari Sher Afzal, Abdul Karim Abid, Allama Shah Ahmed Noorani, Gen Hameed Gul, Mohammad Ahmed Siddiqui, Asad Thanvi and Prof Sajid Mir.

The meeting discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan and paid tributes to the Taliban for their stand taken against America.—PPI
