Ex-SHO, two constables awarded life terms

OKARA, Nov 27: Additional district and sessions judge Rana Abdul Hafeez on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to Satgrah police station former SHO and two constables.

According to prosecution, one Khalid alias Khaloo of Mauza Kaku village and his friend were killed in police encounter at Pul Khalsa, Satgrah police station, in March, 2000.

The family of the deceased, on not getting the FIR lodged, filed a complaint with the court.

The court awarded sentence and a fine of Rs100,000 each to former SHO, sub-inspector Haji Muhammad Amin and constables Bashir Ahmad and Khalid Joyia under 302 PPC.

ESCAPED: Three bandits on Tuesday escaped a police encounter leaving two motorcycles and a rifle near Thatta Namdar.

Liaquat Ali of Dhoota village was on his way to Gojra when three bandits deprived him of his two-wheeler (OKS-8501). On receiving information, Gojra police station team chased the culprits followed by exchange of firing.

Meanwhile, bandits, identified as Rustam Ali Wattoo, Zakir alias Gulli and Farooq Shah of Pindi Shaikh Musa, Faisalabad, escaped leaving two motorcycles. They also dropped a 244-bore rifle.
