The governor said this while talking to the participants of the Air War Course.

He said a significant improvement had been brought in the health and education sectors and attention was being paid to the provision of facilities, posting of doctors and paramedical staff and punctuality of their presence in all the health centres in Sindh.

He informed that special industrial zones were being established in the interior of Sindh while all possible facilities and infrastructure were being provided for the revival of economic and industrial activities and their promotion.

He said that regular contacts were there with national and international investors.

He referred to the meetings organised by Pakistan-US, Pakistan-German and Pakistan-Japan business councils in Karachi recently and said their interests in investment here was reflective of the conducive conditions for the purpose in Karachi.

He told the course participants that the government had provided facilities to industrialists and businessmen under a special package whereby the taxation system had been simplified and inspections, labour laws and other industrial laws had been made investment-friendly.

To a query, he replied that coordinated efforts had been made to improve the drinking-water supply position in Karachi and steps were under way to check wastage and recycling of water.—APP
