Imran, Hanif shine

KARACHI, Nov 18: Imran Khan and Hanif-ur-Rehman gave fine all-round performances in the Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket tournament Sunday at Karachi Gymkhana.

However, Imran’s brilliant display failed to prevent Dewan Mushtaq losing to Sui Gas by 31 runs in the first game.

Batting first, Sui Gas amassed 220 for six with Mohammad Zafar stroking exactly 100 off 74 balls with the help of 12 fours and one six. Fahadullah caned six sixes and four fours in scoring 79 off 54 balls.

Imran claimed four for 30 with his off-spinners.

Imran then struck 70 off 46 deliveries (seven fours) as Dewan Mushtaq were restricted to 189 for eight in 25 overs. Slow left-armer Adnan Malik captured four for 35.

In the second match, Tapal CC defeated A.O.CC by 80 runs. Hanif-ur-Rehman clobbered 75 off just 32 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes, as Tapal CC reached 216 for six.

A.O.CC, in reply, were all out for 136 in 24 overs with Hanif taking two for 17. Naumanulah, Fahim Ahmed Sr and Mohammad Ali Naqvi also took two wickets each.
