PESHAWAR, Nov 8: All Teachers Association (ATA) has criticized transfer of female teachers by the Nazims and warned of starting agitation against them in case they are not reversed by the provincial government.
In a meeting held here on Thursday and presided over by the district president of All Teachers Association (ATA), Zafarul Wahab, the teachers community said that the transfers of 125 female teachers by the orders of local Nazims, were illegal because they were in total contradiction to the rules and regulations of the education department.
Besides this, they said, the transfers were also a clear violation of the recent statement of NWFP governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, in which he had banned the general transfers of teachers.
The speakers said that transfers of teachers did not come under the jurisdiction of district or tehsil Nazims. The present transfers orders would also affect the studies of students because of widespread dissatisfaction among the teachers community.
The participants asked the provincial government to reverse these transfers at its earliest otherwise they would start an agitation against the action.
