KARACHI, Nov 7: The army monitoring teams working in aid of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation are not being paid commission or compensation for detecting power thefts, recovery of electricity dues through supplementary billing or load survey, a KESC spokesman said here on Tuesday.
He said these professionals were performing the task of bringing to book the city power thieves as a national duty.
The spokesman said this disinformation was being systematically spread by the abettors of power thieves, discrediting the efforts of the AMTs in raising the KESC’s revenues.
He said the mafia engaged in stealing electricity was so strong that it also lured a national daily from Karachi and enticed it to publish a concocted report which alleged that the KESC under an agreement had paid Rs18.633 million to the ATMs.
This report is utterly wrong and is aimed at protecting the power thieves, he added.
He made it clear that AMTs will continue their national duty of aiding the KESC in eliminating power thefts, improving the revenue position, providing relief to consumers and improving the working and efficiency of the KESC in providing a better service to the people of Karachi.—APP
