Buner dist Nazim’s bid to pre-empt strike

BUNER,  Nov 6: District Nazim-i-Ala, Sirzamin  Khan,  has initiated efforts for convincing the leaders of the local transport and bazars unions to halt the strike call given by the Defence of Afghanistan and Pakistan Council (DAPC), scheduled to be observed on Friday next -9th of this month.

In this connection a joint meeting of the leaders of various transport and bazars unions was convened here in the office of district Nazim at Dr Qadir Khan colony on Tuesday. Speaker of the district assembly, Mohammad Khan and mediamen were also present.

The Nazim very frankly discussed the prevailing critical situation in connection with the latest development in the region especially air strikes on Afghanistan. He informed the union leaders that the country was in hot water and economic condition was not sound. The day to day strikes and demonstrations would not be in the interest of the country, he added and stressed the need of harmony among the masses and supporting  the government for the national  security  and solidarity.

Abdul Hammed and Basher Ahmed who represented transport and trader communities respectively, assured the Nazim all out cooperation and presented genuine demands before him for the betterment of the communities concerned.

Meanwhile, lady councillors, Perveen and Tasleem met the Nazim to inform him of the problems and difficulties being faced by the inhabitants of their constituencies due to lack of facility of potable water. They expressed concern over the delay in salaries of the incharge of various working handicraft centres in the district and demanded it’s forthwith release.

The Nazim listened them and assured them all out help in solution of the problems and asked them to play positive role for representing the womenfolk.
