Karzai safe in Afghanistan, says brother

QUETTA, Nov 3: Hamid Karzai, the former deputy foreign minister in the first Mujahideen government in Afghanistan, has no plans of abandoning his mission in Afghanistan and returning to Pakistan, Ahmed Wali Karzai, his younger brother told Dawn.

“My brother is busy in meeting elders of various Afghan tribes inside Afghanistan trying to convince them of holding a Loya Jirga under the leadership of the deposed King Zahir Shah,” Ahmed said.

Rejecting reports of his brother’s arrest or execution he said, “Hamid is well and safe in Afghanistan.
