ISLAMABAD, Oct 28: Federal Minister for Privatization Altaf Saleem has said that production activities are in full swing and there is a very conducive law and order situation for foreign investors in the country.
Talking to a delegation of German businessmen here on Sunday, he said world apprehensions about security in Pakistan was based on perceptions and not on ground realities. The government, he added, was working on a two-pronged policy of economic revival through subsidy removal and effective deregulation.
The minister stated that as Pakistan was an original member of DATT, it was following notifications and legislation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) explicitly.
He said his country was also an active member of the WTO and that a ministerial delegation would participate in the forth-coming WTO Doha Conference.
He requested the head of the German delegation to take home a message to minimize misconceptions about the security situation in Pakistan among German investors/importers and to convince them to enhance business with the country.
Pakistani businessmen, who attended the meeting, desired for creating a conducive environment among business community of both the countries by ensuring free market access, removing duty restrictions on Pakistani products, extending soft loans and revival of GTZ collaboration.
