KARACHI, Oct 21: An elderly fruit seller was found stabbed to death in Kalakot on Sunday.

Fazal Amin, aged 70, was living alone in a one-roomed quarter near Sabri Masjid. When he did not turn up at the fruit market on Sunday morning, his colleagues became suspicious and went to his house. Amin was found dead with two stab wounds in the neck.

The police sent the body to a mortuary for post-mortem. The police had no clue to suspects till our going to the press.

CARJACKING: Nine vehicles — four cars and five motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

The police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered five vehicles in the city.

WOUNDED: Two men were shot and wounded in the city on Sunday.

Asghar was sitting in his general store in Majeed Colony, when an unknown man came there and opened fire on him and fled. Asghar was hit by a bullet and taken to a hospital. The motive for the firing could not be ascertained immediately.

Unidentified men shot and wounded Arshad Ali, a contractor, near Hub chowki. He was admitted to a hospital where he was stated to be in an unstable condition.

FIRE: Thousands of wooden boxes were burnt when a fire broke out at the Old Sabzimandi in the early hours of Saturday.

The fire, which occurred at about 4am, was controlled after 12 hours by the fire brigade.

No foul play has been attributed to the fire. The loss of property could not be estimated immediately.
