JUI warns of civil disobedience

Dawn Report

QUETTA, Oct 20: The Secretary General of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri has warned that religious parties will give a call for ‘wheel jam’ strike and ‘civil disobedience’ movement in the country in future, if the government refuses to review and reconsider its present policy of supporting US attacks on Afghanistan.

“A meeting of the leaders of religious parties is being held next Monday in Islamabad to chalk out future course of action” the JUI leader told a hurriedly called press conference at Quetta Press Club on Saturday afternoon.

He also announced a programme of organizing a protest rally and a meeting next Friday at Sukkur. On October 27, he said the leaders of the religious parties will hold a meeting at Karachi.

Maulana Haidri asked a question on the whereabouts of the airforce chief, who according to his information is not being seen for last ten days.
