Big field for President of Pakistan Cup

ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: The President of Pakistan Cup Tournament is due to tee off on Sunday at the Rawalpindi Golf Club, says a press release.

As many as 174 amateur golfers having handicap 18 and below, 45 seniors (55 and above), six ladies with a handicap of 36 and below and six juniors will contest for top honours in their respective categories.

Last year’s winner Ghazanfar Mahmood will however not be defending his title as he is in China to participate in the Asian Pacific Golf Confederation’s Nurma Cup which runs from Oct 25 to 28.

Other prominent golfers in the amateur category are Shahid Javed Khan, Vaqas Ahmed, Kamal Ibrahim and Ibrahim Asad.

The seniors competition over 18 holes will start from Monday while the juniors match over 36 holes opens Sunday.

Mrs. Tahir Mirza with a handicap of seven, winner of last year’s net trophy and gross champion Ms Mehvish Javed are among the participants in the ladies competition.

The President of Pakistan Cup was first held in 1959.
