ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: The British High Commission, which had received the suspected envelope containing contaminated powder with Anthrax have sent the samples of the material to a laboratory in London, an informed source told Dawn here on Saturday.
The British High Commission on Thursday had received the envelop containing some unknown powder. The envelope was opened by Mohammad Javed, a Pakistani employee at the Commission and was later admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) under the apprehensions that he had contracted Anthrax. He was later discharged on Friday after no clinical signs and symptoms of Anthrax infection was found.
The initial tests conducted by the Shifa International Hospital and the National Institute of Health were also appeared to be negative. However the executive director NIH Athar Dil told reporters that they have not drawn final conclusion.
