192 prisoners released

GUJRANWALA, Oct 20: The release of 192 prisoners of the Central Jail was ordered by District and Sessions Judge Asad Raza during a visit on Saturday.

Prison authorities informed the DSJ that the jail has around 3,846 inmates against the capacity of 537.

The DSJ inspected each barrack and sought files of the prisoners involved in minor cases. Later, he ordered release of 192 prisoners.

PARDONED: District and Sessions Judge Asad Raza ordered on Saturday release of two condemned prisoners of the Central Jail following arbitration between the heirs of deceased and the accused party in a murder case here on Saturday.

Manzoor Ahmad and Abdul Ghafoor were awarded death sentence by the DSJ for killing two peoples of Kamoki.

The president, the Supreme Court and the Lahore High Court had rejected their mercy appeals. Later, heirs of the deceased pardoned them.
