KARACHI, Oct 11: Most of the private educational institutions in the city have advised their students to stay at home on Friday in the wake of a strike call given by the Pak-Afghan Defence Council.

Fearing law and order situation and inconvenience to students in the absence of transport, the management of the schools, particularly those of primary and kindergarten schools, have decided to suspend teaching activities on Friday. Drivers of school and college vans have also pointed out to the students and their parents that they would not ply vehicles on Friday.

After the US attacks on Afghanistan, some of the big private schools, including those run by the missionary bodies, had announced to remain closed for a period ranging two to seven days to avoid any eventuality to their students and staff.

It was learnt that in view of loss of academic time of students due to the volatile law and order situation and suspension of teaching in educational institutions, some of the private schools have asked the students to report on Saturday, which is observed as holiday by most of the private schools.
