Oil prices up

LONDON, Oct 10: The price of oil was slightly higher on Wednesday, as dealers factored in a recent fall in US stocks.

A barrel of Brent North Sea crude for November delivery ticked up to $22.10 from 21.88 at the close on Tuesday. New York light sweet crude futures were barely changed on Tuesday at $22.48 a barrel.

Dealers noted that US crude stocks contracted 3.42 million barrels to 304.25 million barrels in the first week in October, according to the American Petroleum Institute (API).

The oil market had already discounted military action against the Taliban and terrorist camps in Afghanistan, and has barely budged since the onslaught began on Sunday night.—AFP
