Councillors interfere in govt work

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 4: After the introduction of local government system, the government employees are facing a host of problems on account of interference by the elected representatives.

Interference by more than 900 councillors, Naib Nazims and Nazims in the routine office work has adversely affected the performance of a number of government departments.

Education Department is one of them which has witnessed frequent interferences by elected representatives who are portraying an ugly picture of their setup and are creating hatred and discouragement among the government servants against the government.

District Officer (Education) Abdur Rashid Baloch recently ordered transfer of some CT teachers from various stations for filling up the vacancies lying in some other institutions.

Mohammad Khalid Hussain, a jaundice patient, was adjusted against a newly-created CT post at Dera Township school but Tehsil Nazim was also interested in getting the same post reserved for his favourite teacher and as such the DO had to face the wrath of Tehsil Nazim.

The DO was pressured to revise his orders and just after nine days through another the same Khalid Hussain was transferred from Dera Township to Malana and in his place Ehsanullah, the Nazim’s favourite, was accommodated.

Executive District Officer (Education), Sifat Aizdi also faced a similar experience on the adjustment of two female teachers who were interested in a vacant PTC Headmistress post at Government Girls Primary School Qasaban.

District Naib Nazim was interested in getting Nazneen, a PTC, adjusted against the said post, but the EDO had adjusted another deserving teacher whose record was much superior than Ms Nazneen.

Ms Aizdi was sharply reprimanded both by the district Naib Nazim as well as DOE (females) Hamida Qasuria for moving against the wishes of superiors.

Similar experiences have been faced by the government officers belonging to Health and other departments, creating hatred among them against the new LB system.
