Peace body chief shot dead near Peshawar

PESHAWAR Chief of an anti-Taliban peace committee and his two official guards were killed in Bakhshi Pul area on the outskirts of the city on Saturday morning.

Police sources said that suspected militants on motorbikes opened fire on Lal Badshah, the head of peace committee of Baizai tehsil in Mohmand, when he came out of his house with the two bodyguards, identified as Levies constable Mohammad Rafiq and Khasadar constable Noor Alam.

Mr Badshah and the two guards received many bullet injuries and were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital, where the doctors pronounced them dead. Mr Badshah had recently shifted his family to Bakhshi Pul locality near the Charsadda Road.

Lal Badshah's brother, Gul Badshah, said his brother had helped raise a lashkar to protect the lives and property of the people. — Bureau Report
