18 names for reserved seats rejected

LAHORE, April 10: The Election Commission of Pakistan’s Punjab office has rejected 18 nominations for reserved seats.

According to ECP officials, papers of Samina Khawar Hayat, Seemal Kamran and Amna Ulfat (all belonging to the PML-Q) were rejected for having bogus graduation degrees. Donia Aziz, Attiya Anayatullah and Syeda Majida Zaidi (also the PML-Q trio) had withdrawn their candidatures, while nomination of Zobia Rubab Malik (a former PML-Q MPA now on the PPP list for women reserved seats) was rejected for being involved in various cases.

Kashmala Tariq and Shahida Mahmood faced the axe for absenting themselves from the interviews conducted by Punjab Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar of all the candidates for reserved seats.

Papers of Sureyya Liaquat, Raheela Nasir, Amna Bilal, Ghazala Mahmood, Sureyya Zia, Musheera Gilani and Lubna Rehman and others were rejected for want of documentation.
