KARACHI, March 19: Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad dissolved the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday on the advice of Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and in a related development, representatives of PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement agreed on the name of Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi for the post of caretaker chief minister.

The agreement was reached by representatives of the two parties at their second formal meeting held in the presence of the governor.

According to sources, the meeting also discussed names of ministers to be inducted in the caretaker set-up.

Headed by Qaim Ali Shah, the PPP’s team comprised Pir Mazharul Haq, Agha Siraj Durrani, Ayaz Soomro and Quadir Patel while the MQM team headed by Syed Sardar Ahmed included Dr Farooq Sattar, Dr Saghir Ahmad, Syed Faisal Sabzwari, Anees Qaimkhani, Nasreen Jalil and Waseem Aftab.

Soon after the meeting, the chief minister left for Islamabad to inform the party high command about the outcome of the meeting.

According to sources, the name of Justice Alvi for the post of caretaker chief minister was finalised at an informal meeting between the governor and the chief minister on Monday night.
