Rocket attack at BNP-M candidate’s residence in Khuzdar

QUETTA: Militants fired a rocket on Thursday night at the residence of an election candidate of the Balochistan National Party - Mengal (BNP-M) in Khuzdar district of Balochistan province, police said.

Police said militants fired a rocket at the residence in Khuzdar’s Hakeemabad area of Abdul Rauf Mengal, who is contesting elections for the National Assembly’s NA-269 seat from Khuzdar.

The blast damaged Mengal’s residence. However, Rauf Mengal was not present at his house at the time of the attack.

Police said the rocket attack was followed by intense firing. No casualties were reported in the attack.

Police and levies personnel were quick at the scene to investigate the incident.

In another incident, militants lobbed a hand grenade at Naal Police Station of Khuzdar district. Police said the blast damaged the wall of police station but there was no human loss.
