Pakistan players improve international squash ranking

KARACHI: After featuring in the COAS International Squash Open in Islamabad last month which carried international ranking points, many local players improved their rankings in the world circuit.

Farhan Zaman, who reached the semi-finals of the event, moved eight places up to occupy the 89th spot while another semi-finalist Danish Atlas also moved up eight places to achieve 91st place. Farhan Mehboob, who reached the quarter-finals, moved up two places to 77th spot.

The biggest mover in the rankings was 18-year-old Nasir Iqbal, who reached the final of the tournament only to be defeated by top seed and Pakistan number 1 Aamir Atlas Khan. Nasir leapfrogged 17 places up to 123rd spot but Aamir slipped down two places to the 34th spot.

Lahore based Yasir Butt leaped eight places up to 56th place after reaching the quarterfinals of the Berkshire Open.
