KARAK, April 18: Renowned Pashto poet Said Hassan Ustad died after protracted illness at a hospital in Peshawar on Wednesday. He was 88.

He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard at Latambar. A large number of his fans, writers, local people and elders of the area attended his funeral prayers.

Said Hassan Ustad was author of two Pashto poetry books -- Ahuna Au Soruna and Ranga Rang Khyaluna. Prof Wazir Shadan and Prof Banaras Khan also compiled jointly a book on his life and work entitled ‘Zhwand Au Fun’. The book contains articles and essays of different poets about the life and work of Said Hassan Ustad.

Said Hassan Ustad also served in Frontier Constabulary and got a pension from the force. He was admitted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar few days ago where he breathed his last.
