Govt asked to sever ties with US

PESHAWAR, Nov 28: The activists of different political parties and student organisations held separate protest demonstrations here on Monday against the killing of Pakistani troops by Nato forces in Mohmand Agency and asked the government to sever diplomatic ties with the USA.

The workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Q and its students wing, led by MPA Nighat Orakzai and Intikhab Chamkani, held a rally at Sher Shah Suri Road and termed the incident direct attack on the sovereignty of the country.

The protesters carrying banners and placards chanted slogans against the US and Nato forces.Ms Orakzai strongly condemned the US-led allied forces for carrying out such a major attack inside the country and killing the troops. She termed it against the sovereignty and integrity of the country. “We do not need such diplomatic ties with US if our forces are targeted for no fault of their,” she said.

The MPA said that security forces and government should take strong notice of the attack and retaliate so that Nato forces would not repeat it in future. She added that supplies to Nato forces in Afghanistan should be cut off on permanently basis as the weapons supplied through their land were being used against them.

Mr Chamkani demanded of the government to move a proper resolution against Nato and Isaf in the UN. He said that it was an issue of sovereignty and integrity of the country that needed to be taken very seriously.

The Islami Jamiat Tulba, Mohmand Students Organisation, Muslim Students Federation and Insaf Students Federation also took out processions against the attack.

The processions were led by Abdul Shakoor, Malik Munsif Khalil, Shahsawar Mohmand and Meena Khan.

The demonstrators were carrying placards inscribed with anti-US slogans. They were also chanting slogans against US and in favour of army.

The student leaders condemned the attack and said that they would not tolerate such incidents in future.

The government, they said, should take solid steps to stop Nato supplies via their land on permanent basis. They urged the government to sever diplomatic ties with United States.
