Hesco SE ignores public complaints

LARKANA, July 20: The power consumers should remove illegal connections and get benefit of the new package of installation of energy meter against the payment of Rs1000.

This was said by the superintendent engineer (SE), HESCO, Larkana, Abdul Latif Zafar, in a public outreach programme held here the other day.

The programme was dominated by the consumers’ complaints most of which pertained to inflated, wrong and detection bills. The consumers cited many examples of incorrect meter reading.

However, the SE did not pay any attention to the demands of correction of detection bills.

Some villagers from Dokri and Mirokhan complained about the suspension of power supply to whole villages for eight to 13 days on the pretext of non-payment of bills.

“We cannot provide you transformer,” the SE replied a resident of Kodrani village who told him that the village had been deprived of electricity for the last five months after some Hesco staff had removed the transformer.

Abdul Razzak Jatoi, resident of Ratodero, said that he received two bills showing two meters installed at his house. The SE asked the concerned engineer to look into the matter.

Mushtaq Ali from the Empire sub-division alleged that despite disconnection of power supply, he was continuously receiving bill. Another consumer pointed out that he did not receive bill for the last 18 months.
