HYDERABAD: Bodies formed to check adulteration

HYDERABAD, Dec 31: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has constituted committees at taluka level throughout the district to check adulteration in food items, drugs and pesticides.

He took the decision at a meeting held in his office here on Tuesday which was attended by the EDOs, drug inspectors, food inspectors and taluka municipal officers.

Speaking on the occasion, the DCO said that the taluka committees would work under the revenue DDOs and taluka health officer and a representative of taluka Nazim would also be included in each of them.

He said that the drug and food inspectors and agriculture officers would be responsible for taking legal action against those persons who were found to be involved in the illegal trade by the taluka committees.

It was also decided that the food inspectors would work under the supervision of the TMOs instead of health EDO. On a proposal from a drug inspector, it was decided that the Sindh government would be moved to increase the number of laboratories for checking medicines.

RESULTS: The Institute of Business Administration, University of Sindh, has announced the result of aptitude test, conducted on Dec 26 for admissions to 1st year MBA (evening) programme winter session 2004. Some 188 candidates out of 233 were declared successful in the aptitude test while 147 candidates had been recommended for provisional admissions.
