DSP’s son shot dead

GUJRANWALA, April 21: The son of DSP (special branch) Muhammad Siddique Butt was shot dead by two motorcyclists here on Monday.

Reports said Amir Butt, 25, was coming out of a health club situated in the shadow of the Government Islamia College when the assailants fired at him, killing him on the spot. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained.

RECOVERED: Carrying out court orders, a bailiff recovered a citizen from illegal detention of the FIA (passport cell) office here on Monday. Reports said Shafaqat Ali of Shadman, Lahore, moved a court in Gujranwala pleading that his relative Rafaqat was detained by FIA inspector Mian Sabir. On the order of the judge, the bailiff raided the FIA office and recovered the detenu from there. The court summoned the inspector on Tuesday (today).

CONVICTS: Two brothers involved in the murder of Gujranwala city PPP president and others would be hanged on May 7, as an anti-terrorism court issued their death warrant on Monday. Convicts Kashif Siddiq and Asif Siddiq had, on Nov 25, 2002, shot dead Khalid Humayun, his gunman, driver and a passer-by.

The president has already rejected their clemency appeal.
