LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched eight-week summer learning camps under the Taleem Programme in 12 districts of the province, starting from June 2, to provide continued academic support to students during the summer vacations.
According to a notification issued by the School Education Department, a total of 6,060 learning camps will be established across 3,030 select schools in the districts of Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Chiniot, DG Khan, Layyah, Lodhran, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.
The camps will operate five days a week from 7am to 9:30am, running until Aug 7, 2026. The initiative is a part of the government’s efforts to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills among the students.
The government directed the chief executive officers (DEOs) of the concerned districts to ensure ownership and effective implementation of the camps. The department has stressed the need for active community mobilisation to maximise the reach and impact of the intervention.
According to sources, schoolteachers engaged in the summer learning camps will be paid an additional Rs40,000 per month on top of their regular salary for teaching during the programme. The incentive is aimed at ensuring teacher availability and motivation throughout the eight-week camp duration.
Officials have been instructed to make all necessary arrangements to ensure the camps become operational on schedule in all selected schools.
