PCB ignores Miandad for seminar

LAHORE, Nov 12: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday ignored legendary Javed Miandad while announcing the names of 27 renowned cricketers who have been invited for the national cricket workshop to be held on Friday.

The list is led by all-rounder Imran Khan and was distributed to the media during a press conference of the PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf on Sunday.

Asked why Miandad’s name had been omitted from the list, the chairman expessed his surprise stating that he had personally invited the former captain and his name might not have been included due to what he said `typing error.’

The chairman said though all-rounder Wasim Akram had also been invited, he might not be available due to other assignments.

He said PCB Director Cricket Operations Salim Altaf and Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer would give the presentations to all participants of the workshop.

Dr Ashraf said the first part of the workshop would be focused on the World Cup to be held in West Indies in March next year, while in the second session suggestions to improve domestic structure would be considered.

He said though there was little time left in World Cup, suggestions for the preparations at this moment could help Pakistan prepare in a better way.
