Dr Qadeer leaves hospital

KARACHI, Sept 17: Nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was discharged on Sunday from the Aga Khan Hospital after undergoing cancer surgery, a doctor said. Dr Khan, 70, had surgery last week for prostate cancer.

He was taken to his sister’s home where dozens of paramilitary troops and intelligence agents were deployed, a security official said. No visitors aside from his family will be allowed to meet Dr Khan, he added.

The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate said on Sunday night that Dr Khan would stay in Karachi for “a few weeks for post-operative care under the supervision of the team of doctors who operated upon him.”

“Dr. Khan is in good health and has shown rapid recovery,” the statement said.—AP
