Rape attempt accused held

CHINIOT: The Sadar police have registered a man for allegedly harassing, assaulting, and tearing apart clothes of a woman in the Salara village area.

According to the FIR lodged by `K’ , a resident of Salara, accused had been harassing her since long.

The complainant stated that at around 9:40am on the day of the incident, while she was on her way to drop her daughter off to a local seminary, the suspect blocked her way. When she lapped him, the suspect attacked her, knocked her down to the ground, and tore her clothes apart. Hearing her cries for help, two neighbours rescued her from the assailant. The suspect also damaged the victim’s mobile phone.

The complainant further noted that CCTV footage was available.

Following an emergency call to the police helpline, police officials visited the scene. Saddar police SHO Imran Chadhar said the main suspect had been arrested.
