KARACHI: Youm-i-Istehsal-i-Kashmir was observed across Sindh on Wednesday with rallies, seminars, special ceremonies and messages of solidarity as political leaders, government officials and public representatives reiterated Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian-held Kashmir.

In a statement, Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Kashmir in their struggle for the right to self-determination.

He said India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, aimed at altering the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir, were in violation of international laws and detrimental to regional peace and stability.

The governor urged the international community to take immediate notice of the grave human rights violations in Indian-held Kashmir.

In his message on the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said August 5 serves as a reminder of the hardships faced by the people of Indian-held Kashmir following India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019.

He termed those measures a violation of international law and contrary to the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani led a rally organised by Pakistan Peoples Party after observing a one-minute silence at People’s Secretariat to Mazar-i-Quaid.

A separate rally was also held on M.A. Jinnah Road which was led by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, where elected representatives and officials of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation participated.
