KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued directives to remove all utility-related obstacles in advance to ensure timely completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Yellow Line project.

The Yellow Line is planned to connect Quaidabad’s Dawood Chowrangi with the Numaish intersection.

The relevant agencies have been instructed to immediately complete all utility shifting and relocation work to prevent any delays in the project.

These directives were issued during a meeting of the Transport Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting was attended by the secretary transport, Yellow Line BRT project director and other concerned officials.

The meeting participants reviewed the progress of the Yellow Line BRT project and decided to further accelerate the pace of construction.

The Yellow Line officials informed Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon that construction work on various sections of the project was progressing according to schedule and that the project’s depots were expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Memon directed the authorities to complete the second section of the Taj Haider Bridge as soon as possible to ease difficulties faced by the people.

He said the pace of the project should be maintained at all costs and all obstacles in the construction process should be removed immediately. He further directed that all matters related to utility shifting and relocation be handled on a priority basis to ensure the project remains on schedule.

The senior minister said that the Yellow Line BRT is a vital public transport project for the people of Karachi and that its timely completion is among the Sindh government’s highest priorities.

He directed all the departments concerned to resolve all the issues facing the project immediately through mutual cooperation.
