KARACHI: All top positions were clinched by girls in the Intermediate Part II, Science (Pre-Medical) and Arts (Private) groups exams for 2026.
While announcing the results on Friday, Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) Chairman Fakir Muhammad Lakho said that this year the first two positions in the Pre-Medical group examinations have been secured by female students of government colleges, which is a good development. He said that the results show that people’s confidence in education in government colleges is increasing.
In the Pre-Medical group, Hafsa Khan of BAMM PECHS Government College for Women secured the first position with 1,011 marks out of a total of 1,100 to get the ‘A-1’ grade. Huda Sarwer from the same college secured the second position with 1,007 marks to also pass with an ‘A-1’ grade, while Aamna Aziz of Bahria College (Karsaz) was third with 1,004 marks and the ‘A-1’ grade.
Sharing details of the results, the Controller of Examinations Zarina Rashid said that 23,613 candidates registered for the pre-medical group examinations, while 23,070 sat for the examinations of which 14,134 candidates were declared successful, thus bringing the passing percentage to 61.43 per cent. Meanwhile, 2,255 candidates passed with an ‘A1’ grade, 3,490 got the ‘A’ grade, 3,812 got ‘B’, 3,201 got ‘C’ grade, 1,323 got ‘D’ while 53 got an ‘E ‘.
Some 2,312 candidates registered in the Arts Private Group while 2,236 candidates sat for the examinations, out of whom 1,119 candidates were declared successful, bringing up the passing percentage to 50.04pc. In the exams, seven candidates were declared successful with an ‘A1 ‘grade, 80 got an ‘A’ grade, 200 got ‘B’, 393 ‘C’, 376 got a ‘D’ and 38 an ‘E’ grade.
In the Arts Private Group examinations, the first three positions were also secured by female students. Rafia Shoaib Jaliwala secured the first position with 925 marks out of a total of 1,100 to bag the ‘A1’ grade. Almas Fatima and Khansa Raza jointly secured the second position with 902 marks to also get the ‘A1’ grade while Amra Shoaib Jaliwala was third with 901 marks to also get an ‘A1’ grade.
Home Economics and Special candidates results
In the Home Economics exams, Azki Imran, a student of Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, secured the first position with 973 marks to get the ‘A-1’ grade out of a total of 1,200 marks. Ayla Anwar was second with 968 marks to also get the ‘A-1’ grade and Yemeni Shariq was third with 953 marks, the ‘A-1’ grade. All three students belonged to the same college.
In the Home Economics Group exams, 264 candidates were registered whereas 263 candidates participated in the examinations, out of which 138 were successful. Thus the passing percentage was 52.47pc. In these exams, two candidates were declared successful in the ‘A1’ grade, 21 in ‘A’ grade, 51 in ‘B’ grade, 44 in ‘C’ grade, 19 in ‘D’ grade and one candidate in ‘E’ grade. Some 124 candidates registered for the special candidates (Arts Regular) examinations while 121 sat for the exams, out of whom 116 candidates were declared successful, to bring up the passing percentage to 95.87pc. Some 36 candidates got the ‘A1’ grade, 67 got an ‘A’ grade, 10 got ‘B’, two got ‘C ‘ while 1 candidate got a ‘D’ grade.
Among the special candidates (Arts Regular), Syed Hammad Ali, a student of ABSA Higher Secondary School, secured the first position with 1,004 marks to take the ‘A1’ grade out of a total of 1,100 marks. Taha Ahmed, a student of Dewa Higher Secondary School, was second with 990 marks to also get the ‘A1’ grade while Maryam Bibi of the same school was third with 985 marks and the ‘A1’ grade.
