KARACHI: Residents of Karachi endured hot and humid weather throughout Friday as the maximum temperature reached 36.2 degrees Celsius, while high humidity levels made conditions feel significantly warmer than the actual temperature.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the humidity in the air remained around 62 per cent, resulting in uncomfortable conditions across the city despite temperatures remaining below the peak levels recorded during recent heatwaves.
The Met Office has forecast a change in weather for Saturday (today), with rain, wind and thundershowers, accompanied by scattered heavy falls, expected in Karachi and several districts of Sindh under the influence of the ongoing monsoon system.
Besides Karachi, rain is also likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur and adjoining areas.
The PMD said Karachi’s maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to remain between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius. However, humidity is likely to keep the weather warm and sticky, particularly during the daytime even if rainfall provides temporary relief in some parts of the city.
