HYDERABDAD: Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho has said that the provincial government is working on different possibilities to resolve the issues pertaining to the tenants of police properties who are being dispossessed under a judicial order.

He said that the police department was working out a settlement within the legal framework in collaboration with the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI).

The provincial police chief was speaking at a gathering organised by the chamber in a local hotel on Thursday evening.

On a request of the chamber, he announced that the business community, chambers and security agencies would be provided free of cost Employee Verification System (EVS) of the Sindh police.

He remarked: “Interests of the police and business community were common because every new business and employment opportunity helps in keeping youth away from crime”.

Earlier, HCSTSI President Saleem Memon raised the issue of business centres established in police-owned properties and the lease matters. He said that economic activities were not possible without improvement in law and order for which services of the police were commendable.

He proposed establishment of a public-friendly police station in accordance with the Police Order, 2002, and demanded promotion of culture and community policing, continuous as well as indiscriminate operations against drugs and organised crime.
