GUJRAT: Efforts of the Gujrat District Bar to resolve a stand-off between legal fraternity and the officials of the Arazi Record Centre, Kharian, achieved a breakthrough as a delegation of senior lawyers went to the Kharian Assistant Commissioner office.

Official sources said Kharian AC Ahmed Shair and Assistant Director Land Record (ADLR) Kharian Akif Javed and other officials of the Land Revenue department were also present at the occasion wherein the issues pertaining to an unpleasant incident occured in the Kharian ARC on July 28 were discussed.

Kharian Sadar police had booked four lawyers including the general secretary of TBA on the charges of attacking and torturing the ADLR as well as ransacking the office over an issue reportedly related to the correction of record.

Adding, they said both the sides expressed willingness to amicably resolve the issue.

In a press statement issued here on Friday, Gujrat bar President Syed Fida Abbas Shah said that he along with the secretary bar Mirza Kashif had called on Gujrat DC Nurulain Qureshi who told them to meet the Kharian AC to create a suitable environment through resolving mutual complaints.

The Gujrat bar president said this was his second meeting with the DC in connection with the Kharian issue. He thanked the DC for her assurance to resolve the matter in a better way.

He expressed the hope that the misunderstandings between both the parties would be resolved as well as the case would amicably come to a logical end through the process of dialogue.
