BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly axed his wife to death over a dispute in Adam Wahan area on the Multan-Bahawalpur Road near Lodhran on Friday.
Lodhran Police, on the complaint of victim Saira Bibi’s (20) father Hanif registered a case against five suspects, including her husband Rafique, his brother Abdul Hamid, and mother Kanizan Mai for the alleged murder.
According to Lodhran Police, Saira had strained relations with her husband who allegedly tortured her for demanding household expenses.
Police said after killing his wife, Rafique fled away.
The Saddar Police shifted the body to the Lodhran DHQ Hospital, while no arrest had been made till the filing of this report.
ACCIDENTS: Five persons, including two women, were killed and seven people were seriously injured in separate incidents in Bahawalpur, Lodhran and Vehari districts.
In one incident, Bahawalpur Rescue 1122 and police said that two families clashed over a minor dispute and a teenage girl was killed in the ensuing firing on Baqir Road in Miani Tibba near Dera Bakha area.
As per details, a fight broke out during a cricket match two days ago and families from the two sides gathered for a compromise.
During this, one family member allegedly opened fire on members of the other family. A girl, identified as Alisha (13), who was standing outside her house,
was accidentally hit by the bullet. She died on the spot.
The Bahawalpur Saddar Police reached the scene, shifted the body to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) and began legal proceedings against the alleged killer.
Separately, one Afzal (40) was killed after a collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction on 88 Wala Road in Yazman tehsil.
The other motorcyclist, Gulzar (20), also suffered serious injuries and was shifted to the Yazman THQ Hospital. Police reached the scene and began investigations.
In another road accident, Shehnaz Bibi (50) was killed when the driver of the motorcycle rickshaw she was travelling in lost control and swerved off the road on the Channan Pir Road near Yazman.
As a result, the woman fell from the rickshaw and died on the spot due to a head injury. Her body was shifted to the Yazman THQ Hospital and police took the rickshaw driver in custody.
Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver Samiullah (16) was killed and Umer Farooq (20), Ahsan (25) and Sibtain (12) suffered serious injuries after their rickshaw collided with a coach at Pakhi More near Vehari on the Vehari-Multan Road.
Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to Vehari DHQ Hospital and the body of the deceased was handed over to his family.
