KARACHI: A man and his teenage son were shot dead on Friday in Baldia Town, police said.
The deceased were identified as 40-year-old Sarbuland Khan and his 17-year-old son, Talha.
Police said armed assailants opened fire on the victims on Mir Alam Road in Baldia Town.
They sustained critical bullet wounds and were taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced them dead.
Baldia SHO Zahid Husain said police rushed to the scene after receiving information and summoned the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence.
A suspect, identified as Zubair, has been taken into custody for questioning, while other suspects managed to escape.
He said both the victims and killers lived in the Rasheedabad area of Baldia.
He said a matrimonial dispute between the families last year had led to the murder of a man, identified as Anas. A case had been registered against the deceased and some of their relatives.
Policeman wounded in shootout
A police constable was shot at and wounded in an encounter with criminals on Superhighway within the remit of the SITE-Superhighway police station on Friday evening.
Police said that the encounter took place between Shaheen Force and two robbers near Jamali Bridge.
In an exchange of gunfire, Constable Fahad Magsi sustained bullet wounds. The two suspect managed to escape on a motorcycle, they added.
The wounded policeman was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The police said that investigations were underway to arrest the criminals.
