LARKANA: The Qambar sub-divisional officer (SDO) of the Sukkur Electric Power Supply Company (Sepco) was booked along with his subordinate engineer and line superintendent at the City police station on Friday after high-voltage cables electrocuted two men to death in the Nasirabad area of Qambar town.
The victims, Azad Gopang, 18, and Wahid Ali Gopang, 55, were buying something from a shop near Nasirabad checkpoint when the 11kV cables fell on them. They died instantly.
The complainant stated that it had long been conveyed to the Sepco officials that the cables had lost their strength and could fall any time. Despite repeated reminders, the officials took no remedial measures until they fell off the jumper and left his brother and a youth dead, the complainant stated.
The FIR has been registered under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) that addresses negligence and carelessness.
He held the nominated officials responsible for the two deaths on account of their alleged gross negligence, incompetence and dereliction of duty.
