Three suspects injured from firing of accomplices: police

ISLAMABAD: Three suspects, two of them handcuffed, were injured in two ‘encounters’ while their five accomplices managed to escape, police claimed on Monday.

In the current month, the number of such encounters has increased to eight in which one suspect was killed and 10 others were injured. As per the police claim, in all the encounters the suspects sustained bullet injuries from the firing of their accomplices.

Out of the total, five encounters happened when the police took handcuffed suspects to their hideouts for the recovery and arrest of their accomplices. Their accomplices attacked the police to set free the suspects and later escaped.

In the latest incident, two suspects arrested by police in connection with a robbery were injured during an encounter in Shahzad Town. Over the incident, a case has been registered under different sections of Pakistan Penal Code.

The police claimed that the two suspects were arrested in connection with a robbery reported on March 30, 2026. During their interrogation, the suspects told police that they had kept some of the looted money with an accomplice in Christian Colony.

In response, a police team was constituted for a raid to recover the amount and arrest the accomplice of the suspects. The team handcuffed the two suspects and took them to the hideout.

Three persons riding a motorcycle appeared in front of the police vehicle when they reached Park Enclave Road near a slum. The motorcycle riders opened firing on the police to set their under-custody accomplices free, the police claimed. As a result, the suspects in custody sustained bullet injuries, while the attackers managed to escape.

In another encounter, a suspect was injured while his two accomplices managed to escape. A case has been registered at the Shams Colony police under different sections of Pakistan Penal Code and the Arms Ordinance. The police claimed that their team was on patrolling near Nust where they spotted three persons riding a motorcycle. Seeing the police team, the suspects fired on the police. In response, the police resorted to aerial firing as a precautionary measure. As a result, the suspects escaped from the spot.
